The Mission of the Cheboygan Economic Development Group to; ‘Increase and enhance Cheboygan County's economic activity for benefit of all citizens of our county community’, and Objective ‘B’ is Job Creation.
One of the Major Strategies for Job Creation in Cheboygan, MI is the Development of a Customer Service "Call Center" by a major company utilizing such services. These "Call Centers" typically employ 100, 200, and 300 operators, plus hi-tech support and management staff. They provide full time (not seasonal) Employment at significantly higher wage levels than minimum wage and provide Employee benefits such as Health Care Insurance.
With current and expanding U.S. consumer/customer difficulty and frustration with customer service representatives whose offshore speech dialects and accents coupled with a lack of knowledge and understanding of U.S. culture and various regional consumer idiosyncrasy's, make our proposal attractive to any Company seeking to improve both its service delivery and cost burdens:
- low cost labor,
- non-union presence,
- local Governmental tax abatements,
- Educational communities willingness to shape and offer specialized education and training needed by a Call Center operation,
-
a population of over 250,000 with-in a 50 minute drive on an interstate highway,
- with no Call Center competing entities with-in 100+ miles,
- and multiple physical location sites meeting a Call Centers requirements.
