Project: Alternative Fuel Production

The focus on alternative energy consists of the following:

The pellet plant could provide upwards of 40 jobs to include those in the forest products and the transportation business. The gasification plant has a possibility of 20 jobs.  Growing switch grass for bio-fuel plants has the potential for many more agricultural jobs.

Support for the Rogers City plant is continuing, pending the issuance of the air quality permit from The State of Michigan. The new plant may take up to 5 years for bio-fuel application, final certification, legal challenges and construction.

Progress is being made on the state moving ahead with the Rogers City power plant.
